‘Prepare the way for the Lord’
As the year continues in this season of building for us, our attention has turned to ‘preparing the way for the Lord’. Isaiah 40:3-5 reads “A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
Many in the Body of Christ have been in a wilderness season, but the season has changed and we find ourselves coming out, having been refined, tried and tested in the wilderness. It’s now time to prepare, both spiritually and practically. There is a renewed stirring going on with an increased hunger for more of the Lord, and indeed for the Lord to glorify His Name. We see in Scripture whenever there was a rebuilding going on (Ezra & Haggai - the Temple; Nehemiah - the Wall), the Lord stirred the hearts of a remnant to do the work and I believe that we are there again now. There is a rebuilding going on, but not according to man’s ways, or the world’s ways, but God’s ways. What encouragement we receive that as the Lord shakes the nations, He will once again fill His house with His glory, and this glory will be greater than the former (Haggai 2). There is a shaking going on, both in the world and in the church and the Lord is preparing a Bride for Himself, a Bride that is eagerly awaiting the marriage supper - but in the meantime, they (the people of God) live for Jesus and Jesus alone.
We are on a journey with the Lord as we desire to return to and recapturing being disciples of Jesus, as we return to true New Testament Christianity. This is a journey, but a journey worth undertaking as we take the Gospel out in word, action and power.
It’s sure to be a great ride. Yes there will be challenges and tests along the way, but as we seek the Lord and follow Him, He will be faithful in every way. why not pray, and join us in this journey as we follow Jesus together. May the Lord indeed be high and lifted up and receive all the glory, honour and praise. Amen.
Let us behold the Lord Himself, seeking Him, hearing His voice and following Him only as we move into 2009. God’s blessings and grace upon you all.
We are on a journey, changing the way we practice being a church, the following points express some of our aims:
- To walk in the fullness of the Great Command, and the Great Commission.
- To live lives of worship 24/7, not just being confined to a Sunday.
- To release the people of God to walk in the grace of God, in freedom.
- To be naturally supernatural.
- To be apostolic in nature and focus on “sending out” rather than “coming in”.
- To see every member engaged in effective Christian ministry.
- The building of a community (extended family) that is close knit but also very inclusive.
- To be prophetic, being a moral voice with a call to righteousness for our community.
- To be a blessing, to be a people who give and not keep or take.
Please stay up to date with what we are planning and implementing by regularly checking the calendar on this website.
May the Lord bless you! In Christ, Tim & Bonny Lunnon & the River City Life Leadership Team.
